Ways to Apply for a Minor PAN Card

One must apply for a minor's PAN card as it serves as an important form of identification. The process to get a PAN card for a minor is straightforward. The government has provided two options for those who wish to apply for a PAN card for a minor. The services are available both online and offline to make it easier for the guardians/parents. They can choose any one method when applying for a minor PAN card. 

Online method to apply for minor PAN card

Below is the method for applying for a minor's PAN card online:

  • Visit the NSDL website and click on the "Online PAN Application" tab.
  • Select the Form 49A from the drop-down menu depending on your residency status.
  • Read out the instructions for filling out the form 49A.
  • Select the relevant application category from the drop-down list and follow the steps. Click on "Select".
  • Fill out all the details required in the form that appears onscreen.
  • Upload the minor's photo and other required documents. Like, proof of address, proof of identification, and proof of age. Also, those of the minor's parents/guardians/representative person. 
  • The parent's or guardian's signature needs to submit their signature.
  • Handle the application fee using a credit/debit card, net banking, or demand draft.
  • After filling out the form, click on the "Submit" button. You will receive an acknowledgment number. You can use this number to track your PAN card status online
  • Provide all the vital papers (if not already uploaded) along with the demand draft if you chose it as a mode of payment.
  • Send the attached envelope by writing "APPLICATION FOR PAN" on it. Also, mention the "ACKNOWLEDGEMENT NUMBER" and send it to the following address.

  • You will be notified through mail once the company receives your application form.
  • Once your application is verified successfully, the PAN card will be mailed to the specified address. You will get the PAN card within 10-15 working days. 

Offline method to apply for minor PAN card

Follow these steps to apply for a minor's PAN card offline:

  • Download the Form 94 (for Indian residents) or Form 94A (for Indians not residing in India). This form can be downloaded from the Tax Information website.
  • You can also get access to this form through the UTILTSL offices and their agents.
  • Fill in the necessary details and attach copies of the appropriate required documents.
  • Submitting a photograph is not necessary for a minor PAN card.
  • Provide the form and document along with the processing fee to the nearest UTIITSL portal/office.
  • After the submitted information is verified, the PAN card will be sent via mail to the address mentioned in the form.

  • Electricity bill/landline/water/consumer gas bill (Not older than 3 months)
  • Credit card/account statement (not older than 3 months)
