You can renew your passport online to avoid the hassles of going to the offices and standing in the queues. Here are the steps by which you can renew your passport online:

• Log in to the website of Passport Seva.
• If you are a new user, then click on New User Registration, and if you already have an account, then click on Existing User. 
• Once your account is ready, register yourself by providing the login ID and password. 
• Apply for the Re-issue of your passport or a fresh passport.
• Fill out the Indian passport renewal application.
• Upload all the documents required and make sure that you have provided the correct information. 
• Then, pay the indian passport renewal fees mentioned there and apply. 

Which Documents are Required for the Indian Passport Renewal

The following documents are required to apply for the indian passport renewal:

• The original Passport, along with the photocopies of the first and last two pages.
• A photocopy of ECR/ECNR, whichever is applicable.
• A photocopy of the document issued by the Passport Issuing Authority
• A photocopy of the validity page of the extension, which is made in the form of a short validity passport. 
• Proof of the current residence.
• For a child aged below 4 years, a passport-sized photograph is required.
