- October–March: Golden Triangle, Rajasthan, Kerala, Goa, Andaman and the wildlife parks are all widely available. Hotel bookings are best done 3–4 months ahead for December–February.
- April–June: Kashmir, Darjeeling, Sikkim and the Himalayan hill stations. Ladakh's beauty blooms by June. Rajasthan has a hot climate during this time, but it offers deep luxury discounts if you sightsee early in the morning.
- July–September: Lush rains. The rain-shadow deserts are at their best, Kerala enters its traditional Ayurveda season, and the Western Ghats turn spectacularly green.
Indian visa requirements made simple
Citizens of 170+ countries — such as the US, the UK, Canada, Australia and the EU — can apply for an Indian e-Visa online. The most common choice among tourists is the 30-day double-entry e-Tourist visa; the 1-year and 5-year multiple-entry visas are for visitors who fly to India frequently. Apply at least a week before travel, upload a passport-style photo and your passport's bio page, ensure it is valid for 6+ months, and carry an approved ETA printout with you.
Dear OCI cardholder, you do not need a visa — the card itself carries lifetime multiple-entry access to India.
