What is the Process for Naturalization

Here are the steps you need to follow for the Naturalization process to become a US citizen:

  1. After you have checked your eligibility, you have to fill out Form N-400, which is an application for naturalization. You can find this form on the official website of USCIS.
  2. Once you fill out the naturalization application, you need to submit it along with the required documents, such as a green card, tax returns, and a passport. You also have to pay the application fee.
  3. Once USCIS receives your application, you have to go to a biometrics appointment for your fingerprints, photo, and signature.
  4. There will also be an interview and a test. You will be asked about the application and your background by a USCIS officer. You also have to take a Civics and English test to showcase your knowledge about the US government.
  5. If you pass the test and complete the whole process correctly, you will receive a positive response to your application. After that, you will be scheduled for an oath-taking ceremony, and you will become a US citizen.
