The main difference between an OCI and an NRI Status is that an NRI is an Indian citizen who lives outside India generally for work and an OCI is a foreign national of Indian origin who has registered as an OCI cardholder. An NRI holds an Indian passport while an OCI cardholder holds a passport of some other country. An NRI is allowed to cast a vote in India however an OCI is not allowed to do the same.
