If you are found guilty for misusing your passport then customs officers, police officers, and emigration officers can search for and seize passports or travel documents. Besides this penalties also can vary on the use of a passport such as: Allowing someone else to use your passport then you have to pay a fine up to Rupees 5000 or at least one year in prison or both. Holding a forged passport one year in prison, and a fine of ₹10,000, or both. Contravening a passport condition: three months in prison, a fine of up to ₹500, or both. Suppressing information about your nationality, imprisonment and fine.
