Yes, typically an original passport is required for an OCI application. When applying for the card, an individual needs to submit several documents, including the original passport that should be valid and have a minimum validity of six months. In addition, he/she also need to submit a copy of the biodata page of the passport and other relevant pages.

You do not need to affix the physical photo on your OCI application. Send the two pictures separately in an envelope and send the package to VFS for further processing of your OCI application.

I am working on my OCI application and am confused by the instructions. One of the instructions mentioned on the Government site says, "The photograph should be affixed on the application and should be in a square size of not less than 51*51mm." However, the OCI application I filled out was online, and I uploaded my photo. When I took the printout of it, there was no space for affixing a photo. Now, I am confused. Is attaching a physical copy of the image needed?

Yes, you need all the original documents and their photocopies during your OCI application. The officials will check if the copies are really photocopies of the original document or not. Additionally, make sure you have your original address and ID proof for you and your family. Also, you should have evidence of your date of birth.

Do not do anything with your printed-out OCI application form. Instead, send two additional passport-size photos with the OCI application. Make sure the photo is the same as the one that you uploaded during your online OCI application. Do not affix anything to the OCI application.

On the checklist of VFS, it says a physical photo should be attached to the physical OCI government application form. But my photo is already there on the OCI application form that I submitted online. I have to take a colour printout of it, and the image will print along with my online OCI application form, correct, or do I have to send a separate picture on top of the printed image on the online OCI application form?
